Testimonials

We live in Portsmouth in an 1896 house with circular turrets and curved-glass windows. When we moved in two years ago, the original curved-glass windows were still in place, but in bad shape. Rather than replace the curved windows with flat modern windows, we hired Dylan to restore the windows to their original (or even better than original) glory. He did a masterful job, taking out all the old glazing, repairing one of the sashes, sanding and scraping off all the old paint and repainting beautifully back in his shop. He also replaced eight of the bent glass pieces for us. He has also done several other carpentry projects around our home over the past two years, including a solid mahogany door threshold. He has been a delight to work with, and his work is of the highest quality. I can’t recommend him highly enough.

As a residential architect specializing in renovating older and historic homes, I know what proper detailing on antique windows and doors should look like. I recently hired Dylan to re-create a 19th-Century diamond pane window that was lost in a house fire, and using photos and some basic dimensions, he made an incredible, historically accurate and EXACT match of the original, right down to the proper muntin profiles, antique glass, and putty glazing on the exterior. Even to my eye, it is virtually indistinguishable from the original. The skills and knowledge he has are swiftly becoming lost, and he is one of the rare ones that can still do this kind of work, and do it well on top of it.

He was incredibly responsive and professional, produced the work on time, and was a total pleasure to deal with. He went above and beyond, and even used antique lumber. If you are in need of custom historically correct architectural elements, either for a restoration or re-creation in the New England area, he’s the best I’ve ever seen. He gets my highest professional recommendation, and I look forward to working with him on similar projects for myself and my clients in the near future.

We used Dylan to remodel our kitchen after a pipe burst over the winter. He is the most responsive contractor I have ever dealt with. Kept me in the loop everyday on progress and when he would return. Our house is very old and does not have one straight line but his ability to make everything come together was amazing. I can’t recommend him enough if you are looking to have work done on your house!!

Dylan really helped me out with my entryway. Not many people were interested in working on my rotted old colonial but he understands these old buildings. Very pleased with his work

We hired Dylan to build us a custom firewood rack and tool set. We had an idea of what we wanted and worked with him through the design process. Dylan was very responsive and provided updates and pictures as the project progressed. We love the end product and it was completed right on time. I highly recommend his services and look forward to working with him again!

I can’t recommend Dylan enough! He is communicative, tidy, and punctual. His work is perfect. He’s very precise and thorough and my old, falling apart, cracked windows have been restored to their 1863 glory. It’s rare to find the craftsmanship and expertise Dylan offers.
